Happy 1st Birthday

We got to celebrate Jett's first birthday today! We had a little party with a couple of friends at Zender's waterpark in Frankenmuth, MI. Pretty fun and crazy all at the same time. Jett absolutely loved it....of course, anything in the water. He got to eat cake for the first time and got lots of fun gifts from his friends. It's crazy to think about what we were doing a year ago today. Time has gone by so fast! It has been such an amazing experience and Jett has brought so much joy to our lives.

He loved the happy birthday song...clapped with all of us when we were done.

Well saying a few words at least ;)! Jett started saying a few words just starting the other day. It's funny because we were just wondering when he would start. Of course he says momma and dada...has for awhile although we weren't sure he meant it but know we know he does. But the other day he said ball and defiantly meant it. His ball is like his security blanket. Has to have it right before he goes to bed and it's the first thing he says in the morning. And dada...I think he's wondering where dada is. He also says doggie. Sounds more like dodie. Which is another one of his favorite things. He gets extremely excited when he sees a dog, at the point of freak out. I think we're in trouble when he learns to ask for one. He is getting pretty good at recognizing things, for example if you ask for the dinosaur he will get it and say Dino. He is also constantly repeating sounds we make. Pretty fun. Oh and I can't forget. He says papa, which is what he calls my dad, and means it too. When you point to my dads picture thats up at daycare he says papa. Just thought I'd share, this blog is just as much a baby book for Jett as it is to share pics and stories for everyone. Let's just hope we can have it forever so he can look at it when he's older. Or I figure out how to print it all out and make a book. Anyway hopefully we'll get some on video soon. Xoxo

1st Christmas

We had a really nice Christmas this year....Jett's first Christmas to be exact. It started out a little rough since Kerisi had to work and didn't get home until 3 but once he got home we got to celebrate. Jett got more presents that we have room for but he loves them all. I decided to go all out with Christmas dinner even though only two of us would be eating but I was so glad I did. Made us feel closer to home ;). We missed celebrating with everyone and hope that this will be our last Christmas in Michigan away from all our families.

It's November 17. Jett has two more days as an 8 month old and he took his first steps in a row tonight!!! The most exciting part for us was that we were here to see it and he didn't do it for the first time at day care. He's been taking steps one at a time for awhile now and furniture walking but tonight he took three in a row and the another 5 in a row. Needless to say we were pretty excited. Viva and Jimmy are coming on Sunday for a week so maybe he'll start walking for all of us!!! Happy early Thanksgiving. Hope to get some walking on video to post soon...

6 month stats

We finally went to Jett's 6 month appointment and he weighs 15 lbs 5 ounces and is 24.5 inches long. Basically he's tiny for his age. According to his doctor they usually don't see a decline in weight like they've seen with him until around 9 months because that's when babies usually start to crawl and be so active but he's a little ahead of schedule so his weight drop is accordingly. He loves to play (and eat) the paper they put on the tables in the rooms at the doctors office.

Arts, Beats and Eats

We went to the Arts, Beats and Eats festival in Royal Oak yesterday. It was pretty fun we got to look at lots of art, eat nachos and go on the carousel and kids slide. It's already cold here in Michigan. Crazy since 3 days ago it was 100 degrees and we had the AC on. Here are some pics from the festival.

We went to the Detroit Jazz Festival tonight which was so fun! They had food vendors from a ton of really good restaurants from around here and a bunch of different stages playing amazing Jazz music. It was all in downtown Detroit on the water. It was so cool and we never would have gone or even known about it if we didn't live down here now. We are really starting to learn the city and learning to love it. Can't wait for you all to visit!!!

Two games in one week! The three of us went on Tuesday night. It was so fun. We went on the ferris wheel and Jett loved it. Kerisi and Jett went together again today and he took him on the carousel. We are so sad to say that Jett's great grandpa (Kerisi's grandpa, Jimmy's dad) passed away late last night. We are so grateful that Jett got to meet him, we are going to miss him dearly. We love you grandpa.

The shed is the amazing aquarium in Chicago. A must when visiting Chicago if you have kids. Jett and I went yesterday and had so much fun. He loved looking at all the fish in the different tanks. We also got to see a 4D movie about penguins...Happy Feet, see beluga whales get fed and watch the Dolfin show. Here are a few pics.

A day in Chicago

We had a fun action packed day yesterday. We went biking on lake shore drive, then we brought sandwiches down to millennium park and met Kerisi on his lunch break, then we went to the pool, then the beach, then back to the pool when Kerisi got home, the out to dinner at the purple pig (so yummy). Jett had so much fun. Loved every moment and stayed right on his nap schedule throughout the day in his stroller ;). We love it here in Chicago...especially when the weather is so nice!

We're in Chicago for the next 4 days because Kerisi has a fracture course. Unfortunately he is going to be busy all day every day but we can at least have our nights with him (and maybe sneak down there for lunch with him today ;)). I took Jett to the park yesterday for the first time and put him in the swing. These videos are pretty funny. I think he was a little tired when we first got there because he was pretty much falling asleep, then once he woke up a little more he was trying to eat it...a little gross. We didn't last long since the humidity is around 90% these days and pretty miserable.
